Most users should install with the Quick Start script, Docker, or a binary from GitHub Releases. Build from source when you package GoModel for a distribution or need a custom build. The admin dashboard is a Svelte app embedded into the binary at compile time. Its build output is not in the repository, so a plain go build on a source checkout produces a binary with the UI disabled. The gateway and admin API still work, and the log says the UI is disabled. Add the dashboard in one of two ways before go build.

Option 1: Use the prebuilt dashboard (no Node)

Every release includes gomodel_<version>_dashboard.tar.gz, listed in that release’s checksums.txt. It contains the exact dashboard embedded in the release binaries and Docker image. Its paths are relative to the repository root, so unpack it there:
Package recipes can pin the archive’s SHA-256 next to the source checksum.

Option 2: Build the dashboard with Node

Use Node 22.12 or later in the 22.x line, or Node 24+. Node 23 is not supported by the dashboard’s build tools.
Every file the dashboard build downloads is pinned with an integrity hash in web/dashboard/package-lock.json, so the build runs offline once the npm dependencies are fetched from the lockfile:

Version stamp

Set internal/version.Version with -ldflags as shown above. Without it the binary reports dev and the update check never reports a newer release.
